320gb harddrive for $99.00
ends on 7/31 though
Just picked this up, as I am down to 8gb on a 40gb ps3, with all my downloaded psn games, demos, qore, game installs, etc.. and need room for siren, and future stuff.
I was going to go for the 250 for $85, but $15 more for a $320 had me sold!
Now to transfer all my xvid and divx movies I have on my pc to the ps3, so that will have more space too.
I wanted to know if the ps3 will upscale my sd res mpgs or divx movie files. And what format/ res do they need to be in to work with ps3? Thanks.
Yes for almost all video files, provided they are of decent enough quality already, the PS3 will upscale if you are connected via HDMI to your TV.
I say "decent enough quality" because when it comes to upscaling the PS3 doesnt know the difference in video quality and tends to also enhance the bad stuff making the video seem like its a well worn VHS tape (do you even know what those are?)
Over the last 10 years or so HD media has become so mainstream that is hard not to find HD created media, so most of my videos are in 720p or 1080p.
I hate to be the bearer of bad news but that really isn't that good of a deal midnightshade. Samsung's HD's are low qualitly & have a high failure rate in my experiences with them, also the one you ordered is just SATA1.5GB/s. Most SATA interface HDs produced since 2010 are SATA3.0GB/s "i.e. SATAII" which allows for a much faster data transfer rate. Now this supposedly shouldn't matter on the PS3 since it's interface is SATA1.5GB/s. But the 1.5GB/s represents the highest possible data transfer rate & a SATA1.5GB/s HD won't always run at it's highest rate where a SATA3.0GB/s HD will consistently run at 1.5GB/s. If you would've looked a little deeper into newegg you could've got a much larger & faster HD from a better manufactuer for roughly the same price if not cheaper. http://http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?
