you dont have PS2 BC and the download something needed to use some PS2 BC features (which you obviously can't if you dont have a PS2 BC unit).

I will not accept your friend request, so dont bother.

First of all, there is no 180GB PS3.  Is it the 80GB or the 160GB?  Secondly, neither of the PS3's out now are backwards compatible.  The only thing PS2 related on the PS Store is so PS2 games that required a hard drive, such as Final Fantasy 11, can play on a PS3 that is backwards compatible, such as the original launch units or the Motorstorm and MGS4 bundled 80GB units.

Go ahead and buy a cheap PS2 game and try it if you want to waste your money, or, even better, look on the box your PS3 came in and see if it says it's backwards compatible with the PS2 anywhere on the box.

It amazes me that people still don't understand their new PS3s aren't backwards compatible.

Where did you get the 180 GB figure from? Available free space?

I don't know what PS3 model you actually have, but only the following PS3 models can play PS2 games: CECHA, CECHB, CECHC, CECHE. If what you have isn't any of those models, it lacks the necessary hardware to play them...
