1080 Video Resolution Specs

Hey

 

Can anyone please tell me what the specs are for playing 1080p video on the Vita (firmware release 2.02)???

 

What I mean is the old frame size was 960x544..... what is the frame size for 1080p videos??

Um, the same?

 

A firmware update can't change the resolution of the screen....

Um, the same?

 

A firmware update can't change the resolution of the screen....

 


Read this: Under the video section is says you can now play 1080p resolution.......

Yeah. As in, the video can be in 1080p format.

 

It won't actually PLAY in 1080p.

 

Just like how my Galaxy S3 can take 1080p video. But when I view it on my screen, the highest I can see it in is 720p.

The big difference with firmware v2.0 is that the Vita WAS only capable of accepting standard definition video (720x480) and upscaled it to the Vita's screen (960x544).

 

With firmware v2.0, the Vita can accept 1080p video (1920x1080) and simply downscales it to the Vita's screen (960x544).

 

The result is that the video will look sharper than previously, due to the fact that the video processor is working with more pixels (the downside is that HD video takes up nearly three times as much memory space on your card).

You are not gonna wann play 1080p files on Vita anyways, they are generally way too big. You're going to want to convert down to 960-544
