Can I lock my own post or thread?

I started this post a month ago and got my answer. But people still keep responding to it and argueing on it. I just wish it would go away, I'm sick of seeing it keep appearing in the forums.

You could notify a mod, and they might lock it, etc.

You can't lock your own Thread/post, but as DD has indicated you could notify a Moderator & they may do so for you.

Although having said that there has to be a good reason for doing so, not just because your disappointed with some of the responses & hate seing it, just ignore it.

P.S. You said you got the answer you wanted, have you marked it as correct so people see the green tick/check-mark,it would possibly stop some people from visiting the Thread?

Re: Can I lock my own post or thread?

I already put the green check mark on it. It's actually about a club I was starting for older players. But this post has been nothing but trouble. I got a lot of hate posts and mail from kids who were offended that they couldn't join. I decided to disband the club as it just wasn't working out. But I still keep getting mail about it and I still keep seeing it show up on the forums. I even said in it this club is no longer available, but I still keep getting messages from people on Home asking about it.

I'd consider mentioning it to a PS HOME Moderator, I'd also probably PM a member of the general Moderation Team & bring it to their attention too, if they think it's got out of hand hopefully they'll lock the Thread for you.

Sorry you got so much crap from so many idiots, some people are never happy huh!

Re: Can I lock my own post or thread?

Yeah actually I got into an arguement with some people in another forum of a different topic and the mods shut it down and locked it lol. That's why I was wondering if I could shut down and lock my own posts. But after today I think I should wait abit because I'm probably not on the mod's good side right now lol.

Re: Can I lock my own post or thread?

I just thought of an interesting idea for a forum upgrade.

First off, allowing people to lock their own threads is a bad idea.  It would lead to abuse.  Spend the next 5 minutes thinking of ways to abuse such a system.  Now imagine it's up for a week.  Abuse occurs.

Instead, have a new feature.  Some kind of new LOCK ME tag that only the OP can set.  He sets the flag on the thread, and then describes exactly why it should be locked.  Any mod wandering by sees the flag, reads the reason, and then locks the thread on the spot.  If the reason is bad, the mod doesn't lock the thread.

It's genius I tell you.  Pure genius.

Or you could just change the title of the thread to LOCK ME and put that same reasoning at the beginning of the first post.  That works too.

Just report your own thread, and in the spot where you can type the reason behind your report you can type in why you want your own thread locked.  In many cases Moderation will agree and lock it up for you.  The tag's a decent idea, but the reports go directly to the mods, so they will probably see them quicker.
