Doesn't that Pokemon comment go against your point ? Mass Effect, or Borderlands, or even an older series like Elder Scrolls will/have been around for some time & will continue to do so.

and also,
technically speaking,
every game is an RPG,
we always role-play as the characters in the game...

Maybe it's Strategy-RPG is what I'm trying to call boring. Now that's a boring combination.

not really dude,

remember, everything is a matter of taste,

what you find boring, doesn't mean everyone else in the world finds it boring,

i take it you think the turn-based tactics RPG is what you're refering to,

and i agree, that it's not my cup of tea,

although my fav genres are Strategy games, specifically RTSs,

i also like to play RPGs for those little RPG elements, and mostly for the story...

You said people will forget the games listed once they're sequels are released - and then mention how Pokemon is still around. That negates your mentioned point, as people are doing the same for that.

Did you play disgaea? That right there might be the problem. The literally sole purpose of that game is to grind. I can easily see how that could be boring
