"PlayStation All-Stars Flops in Japan"

How many copies of PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale do you think Sony intended to sell in Japan during its debut week? Two-hundred thousand? One-hundred thousand? Or at least half that, 50k? Whatever the goal was, I assure you it was much, much higher than 12,000 units. Sadly for the company, that's all that the PS3 version of its multiplayer brawler could manage. The Vita version failed to chart, meaning whatever it sold fell below 6,100. Below lies Media Create's best-seller list, spanning January 28 to February 3.

1. [3DS] Animal Crossing: New Leaf - 65,740
2. [3DS] Fantasy Life - 20,606
3. [PS3] DmC: Devil May Cry - 15,157
4. [3DS] New Super Mario Bros. 2 - 12,546
5. [PS3] PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale  - 11,758
6. [3DS] Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate - 11,330
7. [PS3] Accel World: Kasoku no Chouten - 10,551
8. [PSV] Demon Gaze - 10,424
9. [WII] Taiko no Tatsujin Wii: Super Deluxe Edition - 10,125
10. [PSP] Accel World: Kasoku no Chouten - 8,633
11. [3DS] Inazuma Eleven Go 2: Chrono Stone - 7,754
12. [PS3] Kamisama to Unmei Kakumei no Paradox - 7,606
13. [3DS] Paper Mario: Sticker Star - 7,537
14. [PS3] Hitman: Absolution - 7,490
15. [3DS] Taiko no Tatsujin: Chibi Dragon to Fushigi na Orb - 7,450
16. [PSP] Digimon Adventure - 7,397
17. [3DS] Tousouchuu: Shijou Saikyou no Hunter-Tachi Kara Nigekire! - 7,288
18. [PSP] Renai 0 Kilometer Portable - 6,884
19. [WIU] New Super Mario Bros. U - 6,338
20. [PS3] Call of Duty: Black Ops II - Dubbed Edition - 6,166

Honestly wasn't expecting it to do wonders, aslong as it keeps a steady flow for a few weeks, pushing the overall number of retail copies sold to 500k will still be a good acheivement. Taking Vita sales & digital sales into account after that, I'd imagine 650k+ easily (considering the Vita retail sales are 120k). Hopefully it'll reach the one million mark eventually, however that would take a while.

Didn't PSASBR come out on Jan 31st in Japan? Meaning it hasn't even been out for a full week over there yet?

I doubt the game sold well anyway, but this chart technically only covers what PSASBR sold in 3 days.

This isnt' a surprise, there's little appeal to the Japanese audience in this game beyond Toro and Heihachi, and again, was probably never marketed.

Digital sales are never taken into account, unless Sony themselves disclose those numbers.

When the US charts came out, everyone kept using the "digital sales are the game's sales saving-grace".... Look how that turned out. The game has been out for less than 3 months and the studio got scrapped. Stop trying to say the game sold WAAAAAAAY better than it has. You're coming off as a desperate fanboy

Um, no you are coming off as uninformed about how the game industry works.

I bet you don't understand how SuperBot was even contracted to Sony do you? -.-

Before you say things, do research please.
