Re: Why is Crash so important?

Heres some reviews on CrashBandicoot ;The IGN reviewer said that the game "isn't a revolution in platform game design. It's pretty much your standard platform game". Crash had good graphics for its time but defiantly isnt considered best of the psone, n64, and dreamcast generation

Actually 3d platformers had been around long before then. I personally give both crash and mario the distinction of popularising the genre though as both games came out within a couple of months from each other and therefore neither could be said to be copying the other so both games deserve the recognition.

@liam_c I think you should get your sales checked out cuz they seem way off

I didn't reference any sales at any point Smiley Frustrated but since you asked...
Crash has sold 10 million more units then the best selling series in allstars atm (Tekken - 40,000,000)
20million more then the 2nd place (Metal gear - 30,000,000)
and double the 3rd place (Ratchet and Clank - 25, 000,000)

Well given that it's the same source surely the highest number is most likely to be correct. It's be easy for one page to not get updated as more units get sold. It would be unlikely for some one to get the details wrong by 10 million though. Especially since that's the whole point of my page.

Smiley Frustrated You're the one that brought sales into it. My points were almost all on popularity.
