I main Parappa because I enjoyed the series, and his playstyle happens to be similar to how I like to play. It's fun to add some variety to the online matches, since the human characters seem to be a bit more popular.
I main Drake because he suits my playstyle the most; versatile. Sometimes i'll want to run into the fray and lay down some melee attacks, and other times I wanna hang back and chuck grenades, or lay down some gunfire.
And don't worry, I don't spam electric slides and decoys. I play him because of his hit or miss playstyle due to not having the best ap combos. I feel smart when I have defeated 3 Kratos in FFA with Sly Cooper, truly a Master Thief.
I main Sackboy largely because I love LittleBigPlanet, but also because he has an interesting, unusual moveset. He's not very combo or melee heavy, but instead has a lot of odd traps and gadgets which are fun to use. Also, I like using a character that isn't very popular online.
@dunboody Agree. I also main Toro because he has a interesting playstyle for me. Same with Fattie P and Ratchet.

I main Spike because Ape Escape was one of the greatest games of my childhood and, now that I've had a chance to use everyone else, his unique moveset is by FAR best suited to my playstyle.
I used to main Fat Princess, purely because I fell in love with her during the beta.
