Well, I do want to correct my earlier statement. Almost every PS ad campaign crashed and burned after the PS1's launch. Prior to and during the first year, Sony was (mostly) genius with advertising, showcasing the 3D games and building a huge amount of hype that allowed it to succeed where other recent consoles had failed. Polygon Man was the one exception to the early PS advertising, because as I said before, it failed horribly. He claimed PS was better than God (you'd think Sony would've learned from John Lennon NOT to do something like that). Anyway, yeah, after the PS1's first year advertising has always been hit-or-miss at best.

sony doing good advertisement its not about SONY. they did micheal trailer was epic . not even microsft / nintendo trailers like that.

Yeah the Michael trailer was amazing. It just didn't air enough, I actually only saw it on Youtube.

I can't help but try and look for footage of Polygon Man. It appears they made him say the wrong things, though, and now he exists only in images. I heard he was replaced by some girl named Sofia or something.

They thought it was a good idea at the time.  He was VERY quickly replaced.  Keep in mind that only five PS ad-campaigns haven't crashed and burned: The original ones ("Enos lives" through "U R Not E"), the long string of "Live in Your World, Play in Ours," Kevin Butler, Marcus PSP, and Michael.

I thought Sony's Ratchet and Clank series of commercials were fantastic as well (A bunch of dudes in their backyard being recorded on a shaky camera saying "This is the new weapon from Ratchet & Clank & we're going to *insert stupid thing here* with it!)

Kind of wish we still had those. They were on par with the Crash Bandicoot commercials IMO.

That's true, the R&C ones were pretty great. The point is that there aren't many good ad campaigns in PlayStation's long history.
