There was a guy earlier that explained why Wild Arms should have a rep due to its success in sales and such. Please do something akin to that instead of bashing people for saying that popularity =/= importance. Please define what you mean by importance so that we can wrap this argument up already.



As facts go, Sony OWNS all their 1st party games, they are the ones who decide everything for them, the only time it's not up to Sony is if the game is a 2nd party game or 3rd party game.


The characters/games that have to be in this game and the games/characters that are important to PlayStation are the ones that are iconic to PlayStation. It would take far too long to tell you why every single iconic game/character is iconic to PS, you can just do a simple search, it's really not hard to see why they are iconic and it's very easy to see what games/characters aren't iconic to PS, like AC and MK.

And you're making it sound like 20 is a small number!


For a crossover game, a 2012 game, a Sony game, a game on the PS3 hardware and a game with as many iconic characers/games as Sony it is. Sony even has more iconic games/characters than Nintendo does now. That right there says it all.

'There are a lot of first party Sony characters, but also several third-party ones. Is there much to-and-fro with third party publishers and their studios regarding getting the tone right with their characters? Have there been any clashes?

Yeah, actually you could include first party in that question. From the outside one might think that it's a Sony game with Sony characters so they can do what they want with those characters, but it's really not the case. Each IP holder, even on the first party side, has a huge say in the way that we handle these characters, up to and including even their presence in the video game: we had to get out and get permission from everyone to have these characters appear. It's a really intensive process, and I understand it and I don't hold it against these IP holders because they invest a lot of time and energy and value into these different characters and worlds, and they want to make sure that's protected.

The third party characters who represent the biggest challenges are the ones that appear in games that aren't out yet: Dante from the new Devil May Cry, Raiden from Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance, those were characters that were being developed [at the same time as PlayStation All-Stars], and we're constantly pushing on [those studios] to answer questions that maybe they haven't even answered for themselves yet. It's certainly tough and challenging, because we both want to, on both sides, make sure we represent those characters as faithfully and accurately as possible to meet fan expectations.'

Can't wait to see your response to that peice of information up there ^ oh knowledgable one..really should stop confusing fan rage (seeing as you bothered enough not just to make a thread over it, but also argue with each and every post) with the reality of things.

This game was a risk. Sony didn't give it as much attention, money, time, or investment as you might expect for a modern game, because they really didn't know how it would be received.

SuperBot did what they could with the time and resources that they had. Give them a break.

not to mention, you're assuming that Sony has the same deal with their 1st party devs as the rest of the other publishers,

you do know that there's a chance that Sony's agreement with the devs might be different, where upon they get to have full say on their IPs, right?

 

not everything has to be the same as the rest...
