Way late on this, sorry.
I usually just read things and either agree or disagree in silence.

 

I don't mind unlocking characters but the comparison to unlocking Brawl characters is an iffy one just because Brawl gives you more starting characters than you would get with unlockable characters in PSASBR(if there ARE only 20) 

 

Also, a lot of those characters do play a bit similarly (Ganondorf/Captain Falcon, Lucas/Ness, Ike/Marth, Fox/Falco/Wolf, Link/Toon Link) I think the only example of that in All-Stars is Cole and Evil Cole and even they aren't just a sort of one's faster, one's slower and insert a few different moves here type of thing completely. Similar animations but different moves it seems. Killian claims only 1/3 of the moveset is the same.

SuperBot doesnt have to follow what other games did exactly. Keep in mind they did take inspiration from more than one fighting game
