Top 100 FFA / 2v2 charcters and why it should not be taken seriously

10 replies 222 views Edited Jan 23, 2013

Top 100 out of 112980 players means it represents the entire community. What is this republican BS going on here? top 0.1% don't mean **bleep**. I'm in the top 0.3% and in the 5-6 pages I looked up and down from my rank I saw sly cooper 34 times... and he barely is even represented at all in the top 100.

Top 500 or Top 1000 is actually a larger enough pool to have some variety and show the true distribution of character usage.

And plus, your going to tell me in every other fighting game the "pros" or "top ranked" aren't tier slutz who all use the same 3 guys?

Have you never played in/ watched a UMVC3 or SSF4AE tourney? Its all the same 5 (10 or so for UMVC3 because of the larger character list) characters the whole gosh darn diggity time.

Thank you very much whoever took the time to show those statistics, it was a kind gesture and very informative, but anyone trying to say "nerf Drake" because of 0.1% of the community is just mad they can't dodge a barrel. Once people learn to deal with every characters moves on a consistent basis, I guarantee you Drake will hardly be a problem for anyone, but instead of actually learning how to play properly, the majority of the threads are just about how characters need to be nerfed. No one ever asks "hey can you give me advice on what to do?" everyone just cries.

Good job man, props.

But literally after you move away from the top like 150 Big Daddy and even sir daniel start popping up, so again I am just trying to make the point that the top 100 does not mean Drake, Kratos, or Raiden is OP, just so happened to be that way because of the narrow scope of the survey.

Yeah that's true. I find kratos the easiest to beat.

I faced one dude as Azrael costume GC and dude what a freaking baller. Totally made a fool of me all game and I know I'm not the best, but I run circles around every one of my friends who plays and some people from work who have the game. A few are even higher ranked then me (on my PSN friends list) and only are there because I owned them and they complimented me/ friended me.

Anyway this good cole was nasty. Destroyed the other players in the match too, literally none of us has **bleep** to do about him. But if you look at the top 100, apparently GC is like a D tier character. I'm sorry no way in hell is that true he is a nasty character when played properly.

I agree, racking up combos with him is just so difficult though, I think that alone is the sole reason so many people avoid him like the plague and go for your raiden, your kratos, etc.

2v2 or FFA? If you say FFA I'm impressed and ashamed at the community in general (I mean, 2v2 is impressive as well, but BD's actually good in 2v2. FFA though he just sets up multikills for other people.).

GC is a monster, but he's more of a 1v1 monster.

I never said the top 100 was an accurate representation of the entire game. In fact in the thread I say it does not necessarily show a characters popularity or balance.

It's original intention was to statisfy a mild curiosity. It showing Drake at the top can mean any number of things, and is certainly open for interpretation, I did not intend to imply anything with the data. BUT, we can take that, and look at what Omar said in a recent podcast interview, who admits that Drake (among others) needed some adjustments, and it kind of enforces the pattern.

If anyone wants to help collect data for the the next data-set, feel free to let me know, and maybe we can expand it. Even if we stick to the top 100, we might see some trends over time, particuarly this early in the game. These trends might be fun to look at, to see how nerfs, buffs, and new characters affect the top players.
