1v1 in my opinion, is just bleh. It's not very fun, Its not even that I do bad in them, it just turns into a dodge rolling bore-fest.
But with that being said, it wouldn't make sense to say 1v1 would show how unbalanced the game is because this game wasn't made for 1v1 it was made for free for all and teams..

Huh, I'm going to post this article again...

http://sonichurricane.com/?p=7272&cpage=1#comment-7588

Here's the excerpt from Maj I'm refering to in this case:

I believe Omar mentioned wanting to add support for ranked 1v1 matchmaking, so hopefully we can provide that for you guys in the coming months. Just keep in mind that patches are meant for relatively minor tweaks to existing features, like tuning AP values for example. The turnaround time for balance changes is usually only a few weeks, if everything goes smoothly. But adding a new ranked online mode is a whole new feature that requires extensive code revisions, UI changes, and server updates, so the timetable on something that major will probably be quite a bit longer. If you don’t hear any news about this for a while, that doesn’t mean we’ve forgotten.

I think the whole blocking subject is a good debate. 2 things I think would help fix it are 1.you get approved regardless of how much they drop therefore making a throw as useless as the attack you can't do. Or 2. Like ssb are so much damage is taken in a block you should go to a prolonged stun state.

As for 1v1 its coming and I will be there with fat princess eating cake

Why is everyone trying to make this game like smash? Plz just get good with what the game offers and stop complaining. They wanted this to be a serious fighting game. More serious than smash which never made it to evo and or any other real big events. In fighting games there is always chip damage (in this game the closest thing to that it slight ap gain on block.) Also sometimes theres a guard meter like in blazblue. Have you guys ever watched high level play smash? You never see anyone witling anyones shield down unless it's a lucky shield breaker by Marth and this is because good people won't use their block that much. You're not suppose to sit their and block all the time and just get put into blockstrings. This game is about controlling space and good wakeup pressure. There are very few characters with extensive amounts of mixups when blocking.

Also this game is way better than smash... a lot more variety.... Instead of clones everywhere.

PSN : PsYkiiiK and also FroZiiiN.... PsYkiiiK is always on PSASBR HMU for some 1v1s

Froziin, while I do admit this is a more competitive game than Smash (At least Brawl. Melee was competitive. This is coming from an ex-Brawl player who hated Melee, but I have to give credit where it's due.), you need to get your facts straight.

Brawl was at Evo in 2008. It didn't go so well but it was there, and it is a strong contender for a spot again this year (Melee is leading their poll, having twice as many votes as KoF and UMVC3).

Smash has also been one of the only fighting games to show up on the MLG circuit, along with Soul Calibur.

Now while I do agree that this game is more competitive than Brawl, don't go spreading false information, and TBH just because something is in another game, whether it be better or worse, does not automatically make it a good idea.

That being said, while I do like Smash's shield system, I don't think it would work too well in this game, and TBH shields rarely, if ever, broke in high level play (Or even casual play). I much prefer this system which places a high importance on defense, but perhaps an even stronger one on grabs, which counter most defenses.

So far the only thing I think this game could learn from Smash is adding a bit more ending lag on air dodges and landings, but then that may just be because the game is young and we (or at the very least I) haven't quite found how to punish these effectively.

Well then my apologies... however smash in in an odd place you must agree. Brawl having no competitive potential. An older installment being more popular. Bad showing at evo will make it more likely to not happen a second time... I believe melee has been being voted highly to be in evo for quite some time now am I wrong? Why isn't it in the major circuit now if it use to be? Did people realize it was an IMBA mess

Well, for MLA it was actually a mix of multiple things:

A) That's when M2K debuted scrooging if I remember correctly, which makes it boring as **bleep** to watch.
B) Brawl is an imba mess that's pretty boring to watch anyway.
C) (This is the biggest one) M2k and someone else, I forget who, decided to throw a match so one of them would proceed since they knew only one of them (I forget which, but I would assume M2K?) could beat the player on the other side of the bracket, at which point they would split the pot.
This resulted in both players getting banned and Smash no longer being welcome at MLG.

I might be mixing up (This happened at either MLG or EVO, but I'm almost certain it was MLG.).

Don't get me wrong, PSABR is way better as a competitive fighting game, but sadly BECAUSE of Smash I'm afraid it may not get a chance at the big stage.

wasnt that complicated, they just split finals because they didnt want to risk losing that much money.
