Why is everyone trying to make this game like smash? Plz just get good with what the game offers and stop complaining. They wanted this to be a serious fighting game. More serious than smash which never made it to evo and or any other real big events. In fighting games there is always chip damage (in this game the closest thing to that it slight ap gain on block.) Also sometimes theres a guard meter like in blazblue. Have you guys ever watched high level play smash? You never see anyone witling anyones shield down unless it's a lucky shield breaker by Marth and this is because good people won't use their block that much. You're not suppose to sit their and block all the time and just get put into blockstrings. This game is about controlling space and good wakeup pressure. There are very few characters with extensive amounts of mixups when blocking.
Also this game is way better than smash... a lot more variety.... Instead of clones everywhere.

Well then my apologies... however smash in in an odd place you must agree. Brawl having no competitive potential. An older installment being more popular. Bad showing at evo will make it more likely to not happen a second time... I believe melee has been being voted highly to be in evo for quite some time now am I wrong? Why isn't it in the major circuit now if it use to be? Did people realize it was an IMBA mess

Well, for MLA it was actually a mix of multiple things:
A) That's when M2K debuted scrooging if I remember correctly, which makes it boring as **bleep** to watch.
B) Brawl is an imba mess that's pretty boring to watch anyway.
C) (This is the biggest one) M2k and someone else, I forget who, decided to throw a match so one of them would proceed since they knew only one of them (I forget which, but I would assume M2K?) could beat the player on the other side of the bracket, at which point they would split the pot.
This resulted in both players getting banned and Smash no longer being welcome at MLG.
I might be mixing up (This happened at either MLG or EVO, but I'm almost certain it was MLG.).
Don't get me wrong, PSABR is way better as a competitive fighting game, but sadly BECAUSE of Smash I'm afraid it may not get a chance at the big stage.
wasnt that complicated, they just split finals because they didnt want to risk losing that much money.
