I know this would essentially defeat the purpose of even having Supers in the game, but has anyone thought of the idea of a "stamina" mode, where instead of an AP, the bar represents health? AP orbs could still be used to regain health.
As long as it's kept as a minor mode, I actually think it could help give individual attacks more meaning. It could also serve as a nod to more traditional fighting games by allowing players to practice their attacks and combo skills and create new strategies.
Actually if we got something like this I'd imagine the supers would still be there but would act as regular super or hyper combos in fighting games where they don't give you a definite kill on an opponent but they will take away quite a bit of health.
It would really detract from the game, I think. Because those characters who have high AP gain would be converted to having high damage, meaning combo heavy characters would win all the time. It just wouldn't work...
They could always go the Battle Stadium DON route with the stamina mode where there's just one bar with the character icons in the middle and whenever you deal damage to an opponent their icon goes to the left or right side of the bar and you win if their icon can't go any further, but of course this would have to be an offline only mode or at least during party games.
