Can I suggest something other than this format?  Such as mini brackets where the 18 players per pool are seeded into a double elimination bracket and top w/e placers move on to the higher leagues?

That's not a bad idea. I'll run it through quick and see how that goes.

My only worry is with time zones being different, brackets are harder to execute. Or if someone is lazy and doesn't show up to play.

Well you still give palyers a significant amount of time to play.  With this double round robin format, it's gonna punish players who don't have a large aount of time to play, if each player has to play 1 or 2 bracket matchs a week, with 18 people, aka 32 person bracket, the most any one palyer has to play is 9 other people, or 9 rounds.  And that's assuming no byes losing first round and working back through bracket.  Still a reliable way to measure skill AND it's half the commitment.  It's also easier to keep track of players.  Round robin becomes unorganized and very time consuming after you have more than 6 people in a pool.

You present a fair argument. I'll "test" it the best I can, and get back to you on it. Smiley Happy

This does look like it would work. I'll rewrite some things here and get it set up!

Also for those who might still want to join, we really need one more to make the brackets work!

Ah no! You wouldn't be completely out, you'd just be placed down to the Alfredo League. Though if a bunch of people are opposed to this, I can return it to double round robin.

Though dabuz, this brings up a valid problem. We can't really seed people yet for a good bracket. Now I know randomizing up groups of people isn't perfect, and we may loose some good players, but looking at a double elimination bracket if it's not set up well, we might loose even more good players.

What do you think?
