Re: Oddworld Inhabitants wants Abe PlayStation All-Stars inclusion

Ok I need to break this done moveset wise.

Fat princess: A blob like woman with an army of helpers = A summoning type charecter who throws her weight around

Sackboy: A pacifist and cute inventor = an item summoning brawler who generaly fights from a distance.

Abe: A weak hero who survives by possesing enemies and friends = ???

There's really not anything to work with here guys, his greatest strength is an ability that absoulely CAN NOT transfer into a fighting game. I admit they could do a pokemon trainer type style where he summons and uses a set of other charecters but even then, you guys are better off just protesting for stranger.

Wow, talk about showing a lack of imagination. If you'd been asked to come up with a roster for PSASBR before ever hearing about it, do you think you'd be able to come up with a moveset for Fat Princess? Do you think you'd have predicted that Sackboy would be performing german suplexes with Grabinators? I'm doubtful and even more than I would've been because of your attitude towards the idea of Abe in the game.

Let's think about all the things Abe could use in the Abe's Oddysee/Exoddus games. The slap. The explosive farts. The grenades. The meat to summon Paramites. Elum. The Shrykull! And, of course, possession. He doesn't even have to possess another player; imagine summoning a Slig to gun down and whack the other opponents and send Slogs after them. At a push, Abe could even set landmines or summon Scrabs. They were both in the game, even if Abe had no control over them himself. You could say the same about Sackboy summoning fans from midair, strictly speaking.

The attitude towards some characters on this board baffles me. Defending Big Daddy but ruling out Abe as "more of an XBox character towards the end anyway". He was in one game on the XBox, in spite of the fact that's where the series continued, but two games on the PS1. And Stranger's Wrath was just released on the Playstation Store anyway! And I noticed people dismissing Crash too, saying things like "oh, his games were never really that good anyway" ... yeah, everyone knows how sincere that statement is ... but then lobbying for characters like Dart who was never a significant figure in Playstation's history and would play like a second-rate FF character! Only using magic when in Dragoon form? Please no ...

The point is that turning your nose up at significant figures -- Abe, for example -- just comes across as immature. Are you that blinded by fanboyism that you don't think the roster would be improved by an actual Playstation All-Star?

Pretty quick to call me a fan boy, well I can turn this around pretty quick.

1: Yes, When I heard rumors about both sackboy and Fat P in the game I imagined them almost as they are now. Fat P as a summoner who ocasionally throws her wait and sackboy as a trap artist and gaget specialist. You are the one who is so eager to cram you charecter into a roster slot that you are willing to stuff him full of guns and grenades and send him out as some sort of army summoning gun toter. Superbot hasn't once changed the actual charecters they are depicting. Sack boy can't beat Kratos in a melee throwdown nor can heihachi Win in a ranged battle. To make Abe strong is a assive contradiction and I can't help but laugh when I think of it. And no you couldn't say the same about sackboy summoning fans as Abe controlling mines Sackboy has the pop it. Much like in his game he makes what he needs.

2:Big daddy is going to have a PS vita exclsuive game and Bioshock infinite will include a copy of Bioshock 1 and a move contorller as part of the agree ment they've had with playstation. Big Daddy Reps the third parties who have helped out sony with their support. His game is considered a master piece. If you would deny him an allstar status your opinion means nothing to me. I don't turn my nose up Abe I hope his games have success, but when it comes to translating the charecter into a fighting game charecter he has no merit.

Your fanboyism has askewed the points I made previously.

Fat Princess & Sackboy? You forgot "PaRappa the Rapper" since it was a challenge for the developer as he raps in his own game. There's that song about Chop Chop Master Onion, but his whole moveset was a challenge just like Fat Princess.

Let SuperBot & Oddworld Inhabitants do the moveset if Abe was a character. Not random users.

What if Fat Princess wasn't one of the first revealed characters?

I'm pretty sure she would barely have any requests & if there was a single person who thought of a moveset, well, we'll never know. Why have Abe chances down the hill & actually support Fat Princess, who is actually the most disliked character of the roster (forums did that months ago & you still see a few of them).

Even then, SuperBot probably didn't see anything for Oddworld's Abe or didn't thought of an Oddworld Rep despite the franchise being known for Playstation in the past. Not only that, but at least the character Abe & the franchise Oddworld still continues than chars like PaRappa & Sir Daniel with plans for a HD Remake & future plans for more Oddworld games.

Re: Oddworld Inhabitants wants Abe PlayStation All-Stars inclusion

I'm not saying it's imposible to do an Abe moveset but there's alot of balance involved here that is not like other charecters. Abe has little to no melee skills, that would make him pretty much the only one in the game who has no melee skills (Even sackboy has grabinator and slaps in his game which fit pretty well in this game) He also has no guns or speical abilities that transfer seemlessly into a moveset (possession is an awesome power but an OP power and Yes he has munch but are we really going to base an entire moveset on a tazer?) and Even if you could put these things in how much Abe would be left? Would you really enjoy playing as a gun toting summoning warrior as long as it looks like and is named Abe? I wouldn't .

I guess they could do something similar to Phoenix Wright in UMvC3, stumble around and do other stuff hitting opponents by accident.

*Cough* Parappa *Cough* Toro *Cough* Sackboy *Cough* Fat Princess. Just because a character doesn't fight doesn't mean that Superbot/OW I can't think of a moveset.

While this might be going out on a limb, I think Stranger would be a perfect Oddworld representative.  I understand that his game was at one time an Xbox exclusive, but it was later only released as an HD remake for the PS3, so there is some reasoning behind why he could work.  He also has something in spades that Abe maybe doesn't: combat experience.  Stranger is no stranger (pun intended) to combat and his living weapons would make for a really unique mid-range character.  Not to mention that he could have a ground dash (his all fours run) into a headbutt to get in close for some melee action.  While he might not be an obvious choice to represent Oddworld, I think that he would be perfect from a pure gameplay standpoint.  I mean, he has all sorts of critters to use for traps, stuns, knockbacks, etc.  Hell, he could use a Chippunk for his taunt.  Maybe for his lvl 1 super, he could fire off a Boombat that would explode when it hits an enemy, with some splash damage like Drake's.  Perheps make it aimable.  *SPOILER ALERT* For a lvl 2, he could turn into his Steef form and charge around the stage ramming into enemys for kills.  *SPOILER END* Then I think a fitting lvl 3 would be a cinematic one where he  captures all of the other players in his vacuum and it shows him spinning around, his traditional spitting, and then a brief picture  of his enemies all behind bars.  Tell me your thoughts!

I was also thinking that a possible alternative to the lvl 3 I posted was that maybe a cinematic of an army of Grubbs would charge the other players and massacre them, giving three kills.  I kind of like the jailng idea better but I thought I should include the Grubbs in some way because they are hilarious.  :smileyvery-happy:
