It occurred to me today just how much people discredit PSASBR outside of the community. Being a Sonic fan, there is a Sonic news site that I frequent (don't laugh), and today they reported on how the PS Vita version of Sonic & All-Stars Racing Transformed was delayed. It was originally supposed to release on the same day as PSASBR, so I commented on the article mentioning in passing that I'll at least have PSASBR to play on that day. A fellow user decided to reply:
"You’re actually going to buy Super Sony Brothers Brawl? haha oh wow."
Naturally, I cooked up a witty response to his statement. But, it got me thinking: how do YOU usually deal with naysayers of the game, either online or in real life? Do you ignore them? Attempt to enlighten them on how the game is different? Write a five-paragraph essay that cites proper sources?
Ignore that d**ck head. he isnt worth your time.
Agreed. Sonic fans have been becoming increasingly smug and decreasingly intelligent for a while now.
Anywho, my philosophy is that it depends on the degree of the comment. If someone who is new to PlayStation has reasonable skepticism in the game, then I'd be happy to explain why it's awesome. But if someone just says "wow it sux ur really gonna buy dat crap???" then I don't see the point of giving them the time of day.
What really gets me rilled up is when people say things like "LOLOL only killz by supers? lame needs to be moar like smash bros." It's idiotic to complain about the differences this game has then proceed to call it a clone. As for a response i'll typically say that the game looks like smash at face value but with a mere second glance and/or more in depth look you could see what is different and recognize the potential of the game. So many seem to think that defending this game is some sort of taboo.
i always tell them its better than the original, like for example i like zekda and the darksiders series but people say darksiders is a rip-off, sure its got similar elements but its different from zelda and plays a lot better, and i have to say i like the whole 4 horseman thing its a cool concept, (FURY for Darksiders 3), the camera, the horse controls, the combat, the story, the traversal is all better than a zelda game to me, so all stars can be the darksiders to zelda and smash bros.
