Is this rude, or is it just me?

16 replies 472 views Edited Jan 13, 2013

Ok so I have a little rule I follow, if I join a 2v2 match and if the opponent looses his team mate from the start I let my teammate fight 1 on 1 with the person who is left. I avoid the fight if possible (Unless dragged into it)

The games I just had was me and random guy vs 2 other random guys, one being a Radec. Radecs teammate left at the start so I let my teamate (Heihachi) 1v1 him. We won.

Next match it was me vs the same Radec and a GOD HORRIBLE SPAMMING RATCHET, 2v1 as my teammate left.

I expected to much from the Radec as I assumed he would let me 1v1 the Ratchet in repaying the last match.

He didn't, he even T-bagged when he killed me.

Is this the repayment I get form allowing fair fights in 2v1 situations? If so, I will stop stepping back from 2v1 fights and do as that selfish Radec did.

Did I do wrong? Or is that Radec just a bad sportsmanship player?

Thanks.

Tea bagging and taunting is disrespectful when it comes to fighting games.

If you were playing in a fighting game tournament at for example evo and if a person was taunting people would have look down on you and booed you off the stage.

That's was my 2 cents on the tea bagging situation

I think 2v1 makes it more fun, especially if im the 1. If I then win, the satisfaction of winning is drastically increased. Ive had teammates sit the match out and let me 1v1 with the person whos partner's left, but is that more disrespectful to the player? He knows that even If he beats me, hes still got to fight the other player... Might as well end it quickly than drag on a fight he very likely cannot win.

What you're trying to do is respectable, but you have to give the other player the benifet of the doubt. He might not have known what you were trying to do or your motives behind it in the first place. He may just not be that serious into the game (which would also explain the tea bagging). Don't take it to heart.

I applaud your honor and nobility.  However, there is no rule that says you have to turn it into a 1v1.  Especially in like a stock situation where your partner is killed off quickly, that's the game, and the punishment for him getting knocked out so quickly is the 2v1.  However in connection or lag outs, its super cool of you to do that.  Sorry that do do heads don't reciprocate the chivalry.

Not really... That HAS happened at EVO before, as well as other big fighting game tournaments. I've seen it in UMVC3 most of all. It's disrespectful, but the crowd reaction tends to be more like "OH **bleep**! He just taunted at a national tournament!".

It's essentially the same as trash talking.

As to the OP, that's really up to you, but by stepping out, you are essentially rewarding the opponent for getting knocked out/not being good enough to stay in the match. That being said, 2v1s have to be done carefully, because if you both just try to always hit the opponent, you're going to wreck each other's combos and just get in each others' ways. 1v2 can actually be easier for the person alone if the 2 are uncoordinated.
