I'm still going to buy the game on release to support a sequel which gives us all things we want and which are missing in this one, but I really hope they don't **bleep** up the online like Brawl did. For real...that would be the end.
"they are lazy"
Well, it looks like they focused on balancing the game instead of a fancy story mode like other game.
I also found the accusations of laziness rather odd. It's a fighting game, what were people expecting?
Wow. As the game comes closer and the informations come in, the disappointment keeps growing. After seeing this video I really thought about cancelling my preorder...
Cancel it if you want to, no one is stopping you. It's your money and you need it now (JG Wentworth ref) Everyone has a different case.
Don't forget DLC characters, this makes it easier for the team to make intros for them too instead of taking loads of time for the next characters to come out due to model and texture out a world, create new animations for the intro/ending, and attach it to the dlc file on top of the battle animations, VA, in-game models and effects and such.
I think it's incorrectly named Story-mode, and it's more of an Arcade Mode. Intros are simple and have a bit of a backstory to somewhat detail as to how they came into fighting. Story probably isn't the main focal point of the game and really shouldn't be due to the genre too (Though more developed fighting games have a story). Yes Brawl had some great 3d cutscenes and all, but Brawl was MADE to be more Story driven (hence the big emphasis on Subspace Emissary).
The game is a Party Fighter, one of very few being focus more on FIghting than Party rather than being visa-versa. So it has simple intros, rival battles, probably an specific ending movie/stills like a regular arcade fighting game does, and varied random matches (and I think mini-games??? not sure) like the Smash series' Classic mode.
So in short: At least this game has character intros, being 2D probably to make thingssimple and focused more on the gameplay than visuals/backstory, and for the LOVE of PETE (I know this won't happen ever) STOP comparing this game to Brawl.
-ps Love ya Pete!
