Does anyone know how many alts each character gets? Excluding the pre-oders.

No idea, they said there are unlockable costumes somewhere, so I dunno... 1 or two I'm guessing. I want Sir Francis Drake (the skeleton costume) for Drake/ Fat Drake. The Cow costume from God of War 1 for Kratos, and thats all I can think of right now.

I dont think there is a number, I kind of hop ws there isnt. Why limit it? Theyll probably add some as DLC.

There will probably be like 3 per character. For DLC I want Steampunk costumes!

There are the preorder ones, so that's one set there...

Then, there are the three others for 2-4 player, that makes 5 altogether.

But they stated somewhere (And I'll try ad find the link) that each character will unlock costumes during story mode. I'm guessing it's about 8 costumes total. 3 during story mode, the 4 you begin with and the preoder.

There are already 5 costumes (for sure/confirmed - including the original costume) :

I'd read somewhere that you can unlock some during story mode - looking fo rthe link now.

However, I did find this just now... (Which makes the 5 costums anywhere from 6 on)

Which tells that some costumes will be unlockable. It's IGN but it confirms the 'unlockable costumes' which I'd read elsewhere. I'll continue and try and find that link =)
