How can you justify different hurtboxes among characters?

It's fine if every aggressor only needs to adjust the timing of their attacks for combos to be consistent, but when you have attacks that just completely don't work on a character, it's just stupid. For example, you have Heihachi's F3-22 just not working on Sly and Nariko's aN3 > aN111 not hitting Fat Princess at all.

 

Furthermore, moves with a blind spot in them, such as Nariko's U2 and aU1, have their blind spots seen more more apparent when fighting characters like Fat Princess, Sackboy, Sly, PaRappa, and even Kat.

 

Is there even any justification for DRASTICALLY differing hurtboxes? It's fine if there's SOME variation, but there needs to be more of an average among them. I mean, in gameplay, it's not like players playing smaller characters are ACTIVELY doing anything that gets them out of jail for free against moves that don't work on them, so what good reason do they have given that characters like Kat, Fat Princess, and PaRappa have very strong combos, confirms, mobility, or other tools?

It just needs to be balanced in other ways. The same way they justify different hitboxes on attacks for different characters, different speeds, different supers, different everything.

some of it makes complete sense. short characters have smaller hurtboxes. it wouldn't make any sense for them to get hit by something that goes over their head. some attacks just have weird hitboxes that just whiff on small characters. it's a fact of life. though i agree that some attacks that whiff on some characters are completely stupid such as nariko's an3>an111 on fp. i found that to be completely ridiculous when i found out i couldn't land it midgame. situations like these should just have those hitboxes enlarged as long as it doesn' break the game though. in this particular case, enlarging nariko's an111 to have a lower vertical hitbox is fine. that or having the opponent get stunned higher up after an3.

No logical sense in making Spike's hitbox the size of Zeus' or making Isaac's the size of FP's.

 

This game is glitched to hell anyway but the hitboxes are just logical sense.

Issac's plasma cutter goes over the head of a third of the cast, and sly is tall enough to be hit WHEN HE COUNTERS.
