Forced disconnect issues needs to be addressed!

8 replies 498 views Edited Dec 12, 2012

Hey folks,

I don't know about you guys, but my partner and I are really sick of having people disconnect on us while we're winning - denying us of our rating pointsTo add insult to injury, when we get paired against the same duo, their rating is completely unchanged.

No penalty at all?  It really grinds my gears that something so underhanded has no punishment.  I could understand some sympathy towards accidentsPerhaps there's a blackout, or maybe a mischievous younger sibling trips over the power cord and unplugs the whole thingBut surely habitual disconnects can be trackedMany other titles are able to make note of it and apply some kind of penalty, even if it's just a negative looking symbol on one's username/playercard.

I really hope something is done about this in a future update.  I love playing this game, but getting robbed of my precious rank points by rage quitters and cry babies really makes me a sad, sad panda.

Penalty Suggestions:  (Feel free to add some suggestions of your own, community!  I'll try to update this first post with them when I can.)

-Loss of 2-10 rank points per disconnect.
-Exponentially increasing loss of rank points based on number of disconnects in the season.
-Banned/Disqualified from the current season after x amount of disconnects, and/or removed from the current leaderboards.

Happens to me all the time. I'm at a point where I no longer kill people when they pop their level 2, let alone dare get a triple kill with Slys number 1 within 15 seconds. >_<

Rossome:

You and your partner are complete **bleep** laggers. I don't blame people for disconnecting against you scrubs. It's almost impossible to play you, not to mention the fact that you abuse dante infinite non stop. All you do is lag and dante infinite and raiden super. You're pathetic.

The only reason we don't pull against you is because we still beat ur **bleep**.

Please stop complaining and get better connections. Thanks

I know you mean Drake, and Drake doesn't have an infinite loop. You AP burst when I get 130. Learn how to block and dodge. Haha.

bad idea, shouldnt punish someone for not having great internet. If they ragequit, then fine. But not from a disconnect.
I have a problem sort of relating to this, and ill post it here if u dont mind. whenever i go 2v2, when the match ends and were in the score screen one of us almost always disconnects from the party. not gamebreaking just annoying.

Also, when u discnnect in a ranked game ur score is set to -99, not sure what happens in 2v2, dont u just win though?
December 11th 2012: Went 12-0 ranked FFA. (Jak)
December 13th 2012: Went 8-0 Stock Unranked FFA. (Jak)
January 10th 2013: Sniped Asis_aka_talent into Jak's lvl 1. (Uncle Radec)
April 16th 2013: Caught parappa's lvl 2 with Sweet Tooth's lvl 1 and didn't die in the process (Sweet Tooth)
May 5th 2013: Got my Radec eviscerated by whaatxddd's radec in 1v1. Kmart, u better watch out.
Just learnt "Drake" and is now learning "Nariko".

How would one be able to differentiate ragequits from disconnects though? If left unchecked, one can continue to disconnect and protect their rank points, which is the current issue. It sucks for people who have accidental disconnects, but even then I imagine that would be a fairly rare occurrence, especially when compared to a player who mysteriously disconnects multiple times in a day.

My partner and I are also having that frustrating issue you are having. It's not a big hassle to just reinvite each other, but I'm sure I'm blowing up his PSN inbox with all the excessive invite messages. haha.

I have never seen a score set to -99. In 2v2, there are two disconnect scenarios that I've noticed.

The good way is when your opponents leave, the TIME UP message appears regardless of how much time is actually left, and the results screen appears. In this situation you receive your rank points, though I'm unable to verify if the opposing team lost points. The only time this has been really negative for me is when we get the TIME UP message at the start of the match, which apparently ends it in a draw. Because our ranks were higher than the opponents who disconnected, we lose rank points. Sad face.

The bad situation is when you get the smaller black pop-up that reads something along the lines of "Disconnected from Host." In this case, no change happens to either teams rank points. I've seen this message many times when playing the some of the same teams. I highly doubt it's accidental.

Well, it is tough to differentiate DCs from ragequits, so honestly their first priority should be fixing connection issues. Ever since this last patch I've been having connection issues left and right.

Agreed, the title is still rife with bugs. It is the studio's first game though...so I guess some patience is due.
