What are mods?
Seriously, though, there are very few mods that are active on these forums. You'll see one or two pop up about once a month to close threads or ban a few people, but they're pretty much nonexistent. As for how to become one, I'm not sure your chances on that are good. I've never seen somebody become one in my year or so of being a member of the PS community forums.

We have new active mods recently due to complaint in the past, but I'm not sure about the condition of the forums with these new mods around. They have been strict lately. Just report the thread and proof. It's gone in just a minute or a hour.
A original forumer cannot be a mod. You have to be in Sony department to become a moderator. Don't ask me. Ask them.

You don't just become a Mod. It's a paid position. If you live in California or are willing to relocate you may have a shot. Check the careers link. Maybe post your resume.
