Dualshock or Fight Stick?

10 replies 206 views Edited Jan 13, 2013
I have a fight stick I use for Street Fighter and King of Fighters. When I played this during the beta I assumed I couldn't use my stick because throw was mapped to the right stick, but now I see there is an alternate config for fight sticks. I tend to use the analog stick on the dualshock because I've never been a big fan of playstation d-pads. Do you think it'd be worthwhile to make the switch to fight stick, or does this game not benefit enough from it?

I don't understand how anyone can use a fight stick, period.

You should stick to what is comfortable to you. A lot of people use fight sticks since that is what they are used to from playing in the arcades. I agree that the d-pad on the Dualshock is not that good since you can press left/right and accidentally push it slightly forward, registering an up thus ruining your combo.

Does R2 work on your stick with this game? Mine doesn't :/

I use the standard PS3 controller but only because I feel more comfortable playing this with a D-pad, plus I've had an emulator version of the original Smash Bros. which I played with an Xbox 360 controller and the button layouts for that are pretty much the same on a PS3 controller so that's another reason why I'm used to it.

I don't know how to do a quote but in response to the question of R2 on the fight stick: yes, mine works. I tested it to see how it was and the only button that didn't work well was Select, but that's because the button is broken. odd that the button I use the least was the first one to go.
