Best way to handle this situation?

12 replies 208 views Edited Feb 11, 2013

An opponent is slowly working toward their Level 3. They're hopping around non-stop to prevent anyone from grabbing them.

The obvious thing would be to wait for them to land, but the landing recovery doesn't last for very long, which means the window to grab them is stupid short. What do you do to handle this?

Use items if not hope that he sucks at using his level 3 and dodge all of his attacks.

I could only think that you should try to force your enemy to tech down and grab him. Sir Dan is the best character for that technique.

Unless I'm playing Ranked, I never play with items.

Isn't it a bad thing that someone could be virtually unstoppable just because they jump all the time?

This is what makes good Jak players near intolerable (in my opinion).

Am I the only one that thinks this sort of thing should be dealt with in one way or another?

Again. Unless I'm playing Ranked (which is not at all a usual thing for me), I don't play with items.

I never got why Ranked had items in the first place.

Does your character have a hard knockdokwn? I know big daddies air neutral circle comes to mind, lay his punk arse flat and try a grab when he gets up.

A couple of the characters I use have that. However, landing those would require me being able to not only keep up with the guy who's hopping around, but I would also have to avoid all of their attacks as well, since they'll be undoutedly fighting back. This is even more difficult to do outside of a 1v1 situation.

Also, even if I do land the knockdown, if I don't tech chase and time my grab correctly, they'll just jump and go right back into what they were doing previously.

Thinking about this has me pretty concerned.
