Kiryu Kazuma of the Yakuza/Ryu ga Gotoku Series.
Not only would Kazuma fit perfectly in as a fighter, but he is a big part of playstation's rich 3rd party history.
Being ONLY on PlayStation for the past 7 years, he is a massively iconic character in Japan and the West.
He's been in these titles;
- Yakuza 3/Ryu ga Gotoku 3
- Yakuza 4/Ryu ga Gotoku 4
- Ryu ga Gotoku 5
- Ryu ga Gotoku: Kenzan!
- Yakuza: Dead Souls/Ryu ga Gotoku: Of the End
- Ryu ga Gotoku: 1 & 2 HD Edition
As well as having a Feature length movie and original video prologue.
His moves would fit in naturally to PlayStation All stars Battle Royale as the games are largely Beat-em-Ups all about fast-paced and intense (and sometimes hilarious) hand to hand combat. While he could take some more inspiration for attacks from games like Yakuza: Dead Souls and Ryu ga Gotoku: Kenzan which utilize guns and swords (respectively).
Another thing about the Yakuza series is that along with the beat-em-up nature of the gameplay is how you can use item in the environment to attack enemies. So this would add a quirky and funny nature to his move set as he could possibly be able to pull a chair, bicycle or milk crate to attack opponents. Along with the many mini-games that could help inspire his Supers.
And lastly, as we all know, Superbot has confirmed costumes in the game, so some ideas for Alt. Costumes for Kazuma could be any of the following;
So as you can see. Kazuma is a perfect fit. He has a long history with ONLY PlayStation. He is extremely popular in Japan, and has a good presence in the west. He fits perfectly into a brawler as his moveset could easily come from his long lineage of games which are based around brawler combat. Plus he is super badass.
What do you guys think? Does this Yakuza man deserve to be in PSASBR? I sure do.
Dont all the Yakuza games suck though?
Not really. They are a combination of many genres. Open world Beat-em-up with some RPG elements such as leveling, upgrading, etc. While they aren't games for everyone (they are VERY Japanese) they do have great, fun arcadey gameplay with some great story telling. The metacritics for each one is anywhere from 75 - 80 depending on the title, so they have some critical success and are widely loved by their fans.
