I wanted to start a constructive debate on whether using 3 stock or 4 stock would be better for competitive 2v2 play. (Or maybe 5 stock.)
So, please post your opinion below with the reasons why you think 3, 4, (or maybe 5) stock is the best for 2v2.
I think 3 is simply too small of a number for a 2v2, a team focusing on taking out one target (preferably the guy going for a lvl 3) with lvl 1s, can kill that guy before he can really accomplish anything. With 4 lives, this isn't as big of an issue.
Fun fact: By not pressing buttons when you respawn and therefore NOT canceling out your respawn invincibility (It's there. I know you don't flash, but you still get the invincibility until you press a button or after however many seconds it normally takes to wear off), you can actually make him incapable of killing you 3 times.
I always go with 5... Just because those level 3s like sackboy will easily ruin the whole match with just 3 lives.
Honestly I think 3 works fine. It makes meter management incredibly important since saving for a level 3 can make you useless if you die before you can get it off, and considering how much more reward level 3s give in 2v2, I'd say that's fair. I know there have been a lot of matches where I start going for a level 3, realize I won't survive long enough and end up using level 2s and 1s. Similarly, there are times where I build meter so fast I figure going for a level 3 is worth it.
Putting 4 stocks essentially removes the risk from going for a level 3 without really reducing the reward by much.
