I think it all comes down to how it was used. The current rumble mechanics is crap. 2 unbalanced motor rotating and shake your hand like a 1000w vibrator for very "D!(K" hungry woman. But if they can make a more advanced rumble that not only have more variaty in vibration patern but also can simulate more soft and precise impact, then I am all for that. rumble and tilt should not be one or the other. They should co-exist and helps each other to enhance gamer's experience.
I think it is a better innovation for a controller than "rumble".
