Re: Why won's Sony tell us what the problem is?

If your going to use a forum as a chart for failure rates you should do it by the forum. 200 names by how many people that are registered to this forum.

No, I don't have to, because not everyone here has a PS3.

However, every one of the 10 000 000 I've spoken of does. Using the sales figures is the most appropriate way.

Sure, there are other forums out there with probably similar threads, but how many is that. Hundreds? Thousands? Tens of thousands? Even if 100 000 people had the YLoD issue, that is still only 1%

You know why there is a class action lawsuit against the other system? Because the estimated failure rate was 33% for the early units. 33%. You know how many people that would be out of 10 000 000? The answer is  3 300 000. Three million.

Now be honest, do you think that two hundred recorded cases here and a few hundred more on other forums is comparable?

Also, I must correct my previous assessment, I did not convert the result properly in %: 200 on ten million is  0,002%, not 0,00002%.

Re: Why won's Sony tell us what the problem is?

Indeed firewrestlerb, it seems that the people with the YLOD thread have forgotten something:

You have 200 names registered.

There are ten million + PS3s sold worldwide. Thats' 10 000 000.

The percentage you represent as a group on the total sales is 0.002% (At best, because there are definitely more than 10 million PS3s worldwide)

You think you have a reason to start a class action? You've got to be joking, because nobody will take you seriously.

Re: Why won's Sony tell us what the problem is?

You guys are total idiots if you think you can figure the amount of PS3 failures by looking at forum posts. I mean come on, you guys can't be that dense to think that everyone with PS3 problems comes to online forums to complain about it. They call Sony and say **bleep**, they don't register on the forums and start posting. Please tell you guys aren't this deluded..........

But how can you make a fair assumption then? That's saying the hundreds, thousands, ten of thousands are all of the people with problems. Who's to say every person with a problem has reported it on a forum? My point being, no one can figure out how many systems fail for sure. There is no proof to support either side of the argument.

i agree all repairs dont cost the same.  i think they do the 150 to distribute the cost to one flat rate of 150, but it is unfair to some with minor issues.
the cost of shipping all ways is about $150 so it doenst take much to fix them.

There is something shady going on with Sony. The truth will come out soon.

really? a conspiracy? at sony? seriously? dude? are you kidding? the truth is that its a multinational corporation with way bigger fish to fry than addressing the concrens of a small group of its consumers. notice the period at the end of that sentence. there is nothing else to be said . you do realize that sony does alot more than just make game consoles.

Yeah TVs, Harddrives, Cameras, Computer Hardware. Their PS3 is still one of their biggest if not The. Although there is no reason for Sony to care about the few thousand that have had their PS3s broke down, but it seems to be more well known among the PS3 users and if this gets to big of a rumour Sony may do something about it.

I wonder what would happen if the rest of the world thought like you.  All it takes is one consumer for a Class Action to start. Next thing you know, you will watch a small group become massive....

class action for what? actually read your agreement with sony sometime.i could understand if sony was eating babies or something but come on its games people.

Class action because Sony should stand buy their product. It does not matter what the rate of failure is, the whole point is there should be a 3 Year warranty.

The other console comes with a 3 Year warranty now because some one took a stand. Now its Sony's turn to match the commitment to a product.

Horse Racing, Shooting games, and Madden... Other than that, Im with the Wife.

People post here to say they have a problem. All the people who have a problem here are part of the less than 1 percent faliure rate.
