Re: Whats keeping sony from giving us native 1080p games?

Apr 25, 2010

From what i read i think they make them 1080p so theres no upscaling involved but its hard telling, what they say is they look less contrasty and blurry so id say they make them 1080p to start I dont know though.  Cause with my figures setting my tv to native full pixel it shrinks the games to small and looks incredible but dont fill up the screen, no contrasty appearance and hardly any blurr.  They say on the bing thats what i got on computer to look things up, when i punched in whats the difference between the two, ghostbusters vs ps3 and other console the other console looks way better and alot of games they say look way better.  Blurays are supposed to be the best why is this going on unless it has to do with the percentage of cash for the online fees on other system.  Im not even saying it is but id like to know if the other one upscales or all their games are native 1080p cause.  My game improves in native but it dont fill screen and id like that the games made in native 1080p resolution so it fills screen.  the ps3 xmb fills screen bluray movies fill screen in native but ps3 games shrink and look incredible but dont fill the screen, and the looks are already small to begin with and shrinking to native so i play better i have to be a eagle eye or blow it up and have eyestrain cause it looks blurry or contrastyish.

Ok i got one but, also ppl said that movies and games are 20-30 fps anyhow so how would it suffer for those with low end tvs maybe but ppl with high end tvs suffer not being able to take full advantage.  I know people have 1080p by now even i got it and im poor.

Its not cause of the contrast by looking at it in native not filling screen its cause its upscaling that makes it appear contrasty and blurry, I think they just said that cause they dont know.

You sort of fail to undersand the problem of gving you 1080P games of things suffer.
For example frame rate is then given at 30Fps not 60Fps

Thats not true. Gran Turismo 5, native 1080p, 60 frames per second.

I doubt they've been waiting over a year for you to share that information.

According to the GOW3 box, it supports 480p, 720p, and 1080i.

More recent games are supporting 1080p, I know Mortal Kombat supports 1080p...

Its not sonys choice what games are made native 1080p, its the game developers.

Oh my god.

No sir. Developers do make 1080p games whenever they want, the problem here is not that they don't WANT to make them, it is that the PS3, as well as the 360, CAN'T HANDLE complex games, such as Uncharted series or Killzone, rendered in 1080p. Ever wondered why only much simpler XBLA/PSN arcade games are rendered in full, real, native, pixel by pixel 1080p? 720p translates to 921000 pixels, 1080p comes as 2073600 pixels. There you have it, twice the amount of pixels and then some to be rendered individually. Need a bigger calculator inside that shiny carcass in order to enable devs to make the games for the TVs we buy.

That's not all, when things get really ugly for the console to handle, the resolution suffers even MORE, that's when we get that awesome eyesorish phenomenon called "sub-HD". Games that are rendered on 1152x640 or something like that. Examples? RDR on the PS3 and FFXIII on the 360. Yeah, disgusting, really.

The developers have to make sure their games work at the best, and sometimes the switch from 720p to 1080 can make all the difference. The reason the "Other" system dosent have this issue is that the system itself has a built in upscaler dedicated to doing just that, while the PS3 relies on the game coding to run at such a high resolution which uses more resources. Its also the reason lots of smaller PSN games can do 1080 but not high end games because the smaller games leave more ram and resources so the system can handle the upscaling/native 1080p.
