I'm getting a new TV for christmas, and I'm going to get an HDMI cable to go along with it. right now I have composite cables (red white yellow) and plug the yellow one into my tv, and the red and white into my surround sound box. I'm not sure how this is going to work with my HDMI cable though. I read something about duel sound output?
I only see 1 slot in the back of the ps3 for sound/audio cables to go, so will I not be able to use the red/white ones for sound, and the hdmi for video? My surround sound system is pretty dated so it has no HDMI slot in it. How do I do this?

there are several ways to hook up your system depending on what inputs your tv and receiver have.
if your receiver has a hdmi in and hdmi out choose this. hook up the hdmi cable from your ps3 to your receiver then hook up a hdmi cable from your receiver to your tv.
If your tv has a audio out( red and white) or (digital optical out), hook up hdmi from ps3 to your tv then (red and white) or(digital optical out) from your tv to your receiver
if your tv and receiver dont have the inputs above you can run the red and white from your ps3 to your receiver and a hdmi from your ps3 to your tv at the same time

If your reciever doesnt have a digital input, you badly need to update it. As the red/white rca wont provide a true surround experience, as RCA technically only has a right and left channel, but the reciever works to split signals out to create a surround experience from 2 channels. A digital connection is the only way to truely support digital audio signals (which is whats needed for true surround encoding).
