Pictorial guide on how to Pair and use a Bluetooth Headset w/PS3

There have been many multiple posts on people having issues or needing to know how to pair their Bluetooth Headset with the PS3.  Carsfanatic and I verified this earlier yesterday.

Please make note that the Bluetooth headset you are trying to pair, must be a Bluetooth 1.2 Compliant headset and up, older version BT headset might not have proper profiles that the PS3 uses.  I would however reccomend you purchase Bluetooth 2.0 headsets, there have been revisions with the way Bluetooth works and they seem to be getting longer battery life with 2.0 headsets

*EDIT*  Confirmed Headset that work, stated by users of this board.

*Pleaes excuse the poor qualitly pictures, they are .gif images to save space and are not best quality.

First set your Bluetooth Headset up for pairing, then

Navigate to Accesory Settings on the XMB and press X

Next go to Register Bluetooth Device and press X

It should show the following screen and press X

It should show a message asking you to start scanning, press X

It should find your Bluetooth Headset (I prefer to use my Sony Ericsson HBH-610, press X

It should ask you for the pass key, in most cases it should be four 0s ("0000")

That should end the registration process of your Bluetooth headset

Now navigate back to Accesory Settings and select Audio Device Settings, and press X

Set Mic Level to 5, and Both Input Device and Output Device to your Bluetooth Headset if was not already set.

Please note that there may be some cases where you would have to go through this setup twice.  The Sony Ericsson only needed to go through it once, but my plantronics needed to be done twice.  I'm not sure why, but it did.  Hope this helps some of you.

Not a problem, just trying to give something back to the Playstation community.

I'm sorry but I have not yet had the chance to test that out.  But that's a hell of a lot of controllers and headsets, just the controllers alone is going to set you back 350.00.  Would be pretty cool though.

If you are using all 7 ports, then no headsets would be able to connect.  Each port is a connection.

So no Bluetooth compliant versions UNDER 2.0 will work?

There isn't documentation say it should or shouldn't, and one of the mods said it shouldn't matter.  But I think there are certain profiles that the PS3 uses that are missing from Bluetooth headsets that are not 2.0

Sure!  Here you go.

I've been using it with my Sony Ericsson M600i for months now and not one single issue.  Used it all day yesterday for about 8 hours straight and the battery was still good.  If your looking to buy, I bought it from these guys here:

http://www.mobilecityonline.com/wireless/store/productdetail.asp?productid=20741&refid=froogle&utm_s...

it was 79.99 when I bought it months back.
