my HDTV broke so I had to go back to using an old TV for a bit. I have 2 PS3's(one was free). One is a fat and one is slim. When I plug my fat onto the TV it works and I get a picture. When I plug the slim into the same TV without changing anything except the power cord plug I get no screen. It's just a blank screen.

My question is if the AV cables are different for a slim and a fat. Maybe thats the problem?

no thats not the problem their the same cables... the slim is probably reading off the high def settings still ... try holding down the power button for 2 beeps then see if yu get a picture

FYI, Sony has been using the same AV port and cables since the original PlayStation...

It's not true any more, they added some kind of notch on the slim socket. I just discovered that my PS2 component cables won't connect to the slim cause of that notch, they worked with my PS3 fat. What a ripoff, why would they do that?

Have you noticed a difference in the current official PS3 component cable that accounts for that notch? 

I'll have to do some checking myself....

Yes, in the COMPOSITE cable that came with my PS3 slim there is a plastic bit that works with the notch, the PS2 component cable I have does not have this so when I try to put it on the slim it won't go.
