PS3 always needs to rebuild database

3 replies 124 views Edited Dec 17, 2011

About 2 weeks ago I got a replacement PS3 60gb from sony. Since putting in my 500gb hdd, nearly every time it is turned on or I stop playing a game and exit to the xmb, it needs to rebuild the database. It has also had to reformat a few times which is the main problem. Any ideas what could be causing this to happen?

If this does not happen with the original 60GB hard drive you got with your replacement system, then I believe the problem is with your 500GB hard drive...

I agree with Dolphin. Put the HDD that came with it back in and play for a while. If it doesn't act up, I'd say it was a problem with the 500GB. Take the 500GB back if possible and try a different brand, etc. If it still acts up with the original HDD, then return the whole system to Sony for an exchange.

Race how you expect to be raced.
