Sent PS3 on April 28

Sony received it on April 29

Sony assigned it on April 30

Here is my current service status message:

Service Request #: 1-XXXXXXXXX Status Date: Wednesday, April 30, 2008 Status: The unit you are inquiring about was opened and assigned on 4/30/2008. Please allow 7-15 business days from the time we received your unit to complete your order not including shipping and handling time.

Anyone knows if after that I will have the ''common message'' that says: Due to high demand, your unit is currently on backorder

man.. i hope you don't, because I just called in for my coffin today and I'm still struggling with reality of going almost a month w/o my own 60GB PS3.

I have never received an "opened and assigned" message.  They received mine on April 24th, and all I got was the dreaded backorder message.  Starting to lose patience.....not even an update yet !!

Same thing here.  I sent my PS3 in on 4/9/08 and all I've gotten so far is the backorder message.  I'm now in week three and I'm getting frustrated.  I have a copy of GTA IV, but no way to play it.  Frustrated!

I sent my 80 gb out on the 16 of april they got it and logged it in on the 18. Missed the ups guy yesterday so it was re-delivered today.... So far all is well and playing as we speak..........

I'm getting the exact same message. Sent mine in Monday, Sony received it Tuesday morning. Mine was a 40GB so hopefully its not backordered.

Please tell me it doesnt take that long -_- I have yet to receive my coffin and I called sony on sunday. I been having GTA4 unopened since release day. I hope the coffin arrives tomorrow

miy ps3 status says : waiting for test

I also sent mine in on April 9.  However, I just got off the phone with the most intelligent customer service representative I think SONY has.  She was able to tell me the exact problem of my system.  She even admitted that SONY has been having lots of problems with the systems that were produced since December of 2007.  Apparently the turn around time now for a system displaying the “disc read error” is 20 days.   

By the way, I was told most of the disc read errors are do to a problem with the loading tray, not the blu-ray drive.
