Is ExFAT the same as FAT32?

1 replies 2662 views Edited Mar 6, 2010

I want to fomat my external hard drive to fat32 so that I can use it on the ps3, but I was wondering if exfat was the same thing as fat32.

Also, Is it ture that on fat32 you can only put files smaller than 4gb on the hard drive? What about exfat? what is the limit for exfat?

No, exFAT is not quite the same as FAT32. It doesn't have the 4 GB file size limit, but it's kinda moot if the PS3 isn't going to read it properly.

Use FAT32.
