i dont mind the waiting. id rather wait now for a few minutes, than have longer load times in the future. i mean, isnt that the point of installing data, is so you dont have to wait as long to load? so just start the install, go take (or leave) a #2, then come back.
I like your thinking. Sounds logical to me.

lol thanks. i think i just had a game do this to me. it was uhhh. Unreal tournament 3. it even said. installing game data so load times wont be as long, not in those exact words, but, ya know what i mean. so if i didnt do this, would that have meant i gotta wait longer for the map to load as eveeryone else has started playing? so i said screw it, and did the install. its a great feature i think. BUT, it does piss me off when i get a new game like that, then ya gotta go thru....UPDATE FOUND and wait 45 minutes for that, than go through the install, but other than that i like it.

I hate that too. I still wish there was an option to hit triangle on a Game Data Utility file on the XMB and select a "Check for Update" option. That way, you an do it without the disc and keep up to date a lot easier. Nothing kills wanting to play a game more than having to install updates each time you pop the disc in.

After being on here for over a year, I have seen one too many threads on this topic: "Why does it have to install? It takes so long. It's stupid. Moooooaaan!"
People complaining about games and content having to install on the PS3. It boggles my mind that people even gripe about it. The data installs once, and you NEVER have to do it again (unless it gets corrupted of course, which is rarely). With that said, most installs take less than two minutes. Is two minutes or less REALLY that much time to warrant complaint? Are people ageing that fast? Did I miss the memo that waiting 2 minutes for something is bad for your health?Message Edited by HongoXIII on 10-17-2009 09:23 PM
Kudos +1...and thats comin from one of the biggest 'complainers' on the forum, but even my PC has to install things I download...even just plugins.
I agree.

Society as a whole has no idea what patients mean anymore. It's quite sad. I agree with your opinion.
Patients are people that wait to see a doctor.
And I agree with the OP, but Bioshock took a significant amount of time to install.

PARTIAL agree.
MANY, MANY, MANY downloads take MUCH longer than TWO MINUTES.
Demos for instance, take sometimes over half an hour, depending how big the demo is.
And not all of us have lightning fast high speed. (mine is fast but not "can download 5 gigs of data in 5 minutes" fast
)
So I agree that people should stop complaining about how long it takes, but I don`t agree that all downloads take just a few minutes. (Keep in mind you have to INSTALL the data after your done downloading)

no one was reffering to downloads. we were reffering to game install times.
