Does the PS3 pick up any laptop?

7 replies 94 views Edited Nov 25, 2009

I have a sony vaio and I noticed my PS3 media server can access any music/video/picture files from my laptop and play them on my ps3 wirelessly. My friend has a dell laptop, is this possible for him also?

Of course.  It has to do with the software used for the media server, not the manufacturer of the hardware...

It would depend if they have midia sharing on.  You need to check settings under Windows defender.

That has absolutely nothing to do with it.

I have (and always have had) a home built PC.  Nothing in it is made by Sony and media servers work fine from my PC with my PS3 connected wireless.

yes!  and there are a couple of different media servers that he can use.  tversity, winblows media player, ps3 media server. you can also stream stuff from a nas that supports dlna or upnp.
