wrong .2% not .02 its is 1/5 of 1%
The whole story was fake. The failure rate of the PS3 is less that .02% Not 2% but .02 %......Most of the so called "BAD" systems are because people bought them thinking that there would be backwards compatibilty. User stupidity does not count in console failure rates.
No. More of a Journalist who hear that a company was having a high return rate. Did minor investigation and said that the drive were failing at a 40% rate. What most likely was true was that while soem could have been bad, it's more then likely that the user returned the PS3 becuase his/her PS2 games would not work. the journalist should have done more research before breaking the news. But thought instead that careful wording of "Sony might have a problem" would be good enough to avoid critism, if the research find out that the users has good consoles, but turns out it was a user error instead of bad hardware.
