i have noticed recently only a certain few games froze for me , Fallout 3 GOTY Edition froze like mad when doing the expansionsFallout NewVegas has a few times so far. but MGS4, Resident evil 5 , NFS Hot Pursuit, Battleifled bad company 2 has not froze yet BC2 i have been booted offline a few times but it was a server issue ( EA has $#hiity servers to begin with) a;ways has since PS2 days with madden and SSX 3 and even MAdden on 360 my friend ha shad issues with EA servers.
my PS3 freezes too when i play COD Black Ops. so i just turn it off and play again.
The only thing i can think of is that the console is processing so much power, it sometimes goes overboard and needs to re-boot.
I have the same problem also but it is only with ea games I play others and they are clear I was thinking it was my playstation I called im they have I started playing other games and now it works okay but not with hot pursuit
There could be several reasons why your PS3 freezes. Some games freeze because of bugs or perhaps they are overheating the GPU. Certain games have been known to freeze certain PS3 models. When GTA IV first came out it was causing some of the 60 GB model PS3s to freeze.
The PS3 is also known to freeze occasionally on the web browser if that is what you mean by the internet. Most web developers code only for PC browsers, so their code might be incompatible with the PS3's browser. Also, it is an old browser that Sony rarely patches or updates. These days with PC browsers releasing new versions every month or so, it is apparent that using an old outdated browser will cause some problems.
If you are experience freezing in every game and it happens often then your PS3 might be failing. If you are still under warranty you can send it to Sony for a free repair. If you are no longer under warranty it will cost you around $130 - $150 to repair it. In my opinion it is not worth it to pay the fee to repair it. Many people have complained that after paying for repair they just ended up with another dead PS3 in a few months.
You can get a brand new PS3 Slim for only about $150 more than the repair cost (160 GB are $300) and not having to worry about it failing and freezing up again in a few months. I know some people will say you have to pay tax and shipping for a new PS3 making it way more than $300, but if you get if from Amazon you don't have to pay tax and they have free shipping. Amazon has the 160GB and the 320GB Move bundle. Anyway, here's the link you can see for yourself: PlayStation 3
