2) Cross game chat. Xbox manages this so why cant we?
I've heard that one of the 3 cores in the Xbox is left dedicated to doing stuff like this and Live and overhead like that.... so if true, then the devs are only really using 2 cores for the game itself.... and there isn't much to interfere with something like the voice chat.
On the PS3, I'm not sure if those kind of resources are dedicated to stuff like that. I'd guess for most games, there is plenty of left-over power to do it... but if they haven't dedicated it, maybe it would run into issues with some games? Also, since PS3 hasn't had it for so long, each game has kind of done its own thing.
I don't give up hope we'll eventually get this feature... but I'm guessing it is more complicated to add at this point for PS3 (ex: in Burnout Paradise... if your mic is on, you are always talking into the game... so how would the system know what to send over your x-game chat versus into Burnout Paradise. Games that you have to push a button to transmit into the game would be OK). That said... this is probably the #1 requested feature from what I've seen... so I'd say Sony needs to get to work and get it done!
