First off, I am running into the same issues that many others were having with PS3 freezing or not working correctly. I have tried all options (trying to avoid doing a system restore). The question I have is, why when I do a system restore it says you will lose all your saved files and will restore system back to original state. However, I try to update and it tells me that the system is update and no further actions needed. However, I load in a new game like BO2 and it requires and download, which, in turn, make my system freeze and through out error messages. As long as I avoid playing BO2, I have no issues and everything works correctly, can someone please explain this madness? I feel like it is an issue with the game, but, I am on my 2nd new disk of the same game and still the results are the same. ??????

How many other games have you tried besides BO2? I doubt that the game is the problem. If it is a System software problem, then restoring the PS3 System will address that. It could also be a problem with your hard disk. The only way to fix that is to replace the hard disk. The Restore PS3 System command will delete all of the data from the hard drive, but it is expected that you will back up the hard disk to a USB hard drive with the PS3 Backup Utility (if possible) before you restore the System. After you restore the PS3, you can restore the backup to recover everything that was on the hard disk. Therefore, you should not lose any save data or content.
