<><>Friends List/Profile: How it should've been. (PICTURES)

13 replies 4 views Edited Sep 5, 2009

Okay, so with the new update (3.0), we found out that the new friends list is a little too much overdone. Big grey boxes just covering everything trying to "kill" the life that dynamic themes brought, the sparkles, and new designed What's New and Store previews.

Here's what I think that they should've done: Stick with the NEW theme that they released.

Some things you should know before you "critique" my photos:

  • I forgot to put that little controller icon next to the game that you're playing. Sorry!
  • I used a blank background because the XMB was too hard to work with since I'm using Microsoft Paint.
  • Didn't make the comment bubble because it was too hard, but it should still be used.
  • The profile is TRANSPARENT. It's not actually purple.
  • I also forgot to put in the "Last Sign-in" message.

Current theme: Grey, big, blocky, and makes the XMB look even more since nothing matches.

What it should've matched with: See the nice looking, transparent, eye-catching theme?

What would've been better: Matches, easy to look at, cool.

Friend's List: Whatever friend you are hovering, it will be bigger, display comment, and show the 3 stripes to give it a more "detailed" look.

When accessing their profile: Instead of going to a whole different "page" and then blurring the background...just have it slide down to reveal the rest of the profile.

Profile: Same as before, but different theme. The theme now matches the newly improved XMB, giving it a more cleaner/sophisticated look. It also doesn't look tacky and boring anymore. The "About Me" section will increase the characters by a maximum amount giving players an opportunity to share more about themselves.

PS: Also, the "Account Management" theme layout needs to be updated as well. It STILL has the old theme and old sound scheme back from late 2007 from the old PlayStation Store. ARE YOU SERIOUS?

Yeah these are nice but Sony Japan designers are terrible at making anything eye-catching or matching themes. Look at our Profile cards, XMB, original PS STORE, etc. Its not a random chance that our new friends list looks terrible, it's just the Japan design pattern of being ugly.

People thinking of and creating all of these cool concepts and designs for the PS3 OS should all send them directly to SONY instead of just leaving them here for us to see and unobserved by SONY.
