It has to do with the different software the PS4 is going to be using.  From what I heard/read, the PS4 games and system with running on a completely different internal computing system than the PS3 system and games run making the PS3 games incompatible with the new PS4 opertaing system,

Because the PS4 uses a completely different microprocessor architecture than the PS3.  The PS4 uses the same processor architecture as a PC, while the PS3 uses a proprietary microprocessor called Cell that is based on PowerPC technology that is used on servers and some technical workstations.   The two processor architectures have no software compatibility, and the new one is not powerful enough to emulate the Cell processor and PS3 GPU in software, which was done to provide PS1 compatibility on the PS2 Slim and PS3.  As for why the PS4 is not compatible with PS1 games, that is just because Sony thinks that two console generations is long enough to support PS1 backward compatibility.

The PS2 had a totally different chipset to the PS3, and the PS4 has a totally different.... etc, etc.
Anyway, what this means is that it's potentially as tricky making PS3 games work faultlessly on a PS4 and it was doing it for PS2 games on the PS3.

(ie: what he just said)

Now, it may be easier for the PS4 to play PS2 games now. Let's all push Sony for PS2 compatibility on the PS4 - yay!!
