When deleting a flick stored in HD, time is slower by the days

2 replies 52 views Edited Oct 6, 2012

I store many movies on my HD of my PS3. I've started to notice the time to delete a file is getting slow, I mean really slow.

So I figured is there some sort of a defrag procedure needed to clean my HD of 160G or there are other solution that might

do the trick?  Thanks

Welcome to the PlayStation Communtiy.

Sorry but there isn't a defrag option for the PS3 like there is for a regualar PC, it's probably taking a long time to delete certain things because of the large amount of data stored on the HDD & the time the system is taking to access it.

There is no disk defragmentation utility, but you can defragment the hard disk by backing it up to a USB external hard disk using the PS3 Backup Utility, reformatting the hard disk using the Restore PS3 System command, and then restoring the backup.
