Anyone have issues with downloaded content? Since they started doing these updates I can no longer download and install games reliably from the PSN. The downloads seem to go okay but when installing at around 20% it errors out and I get a corrupt file in my games library. Error code 80029564, I swapped routers, did a file system rebuild database rebuild reformatted, and contacted Sony and my ISP and no one is helping... I am beyond frustrated and wasting money for PS Plus because I can't use a lot of the content. Is anyone else experiencing this problem? I don't know what else to do...

My PS3 just downloaded the update but didn't install the update. I tried to restore it and rebuild it but I can't access anything on my PS3 it just goes to a black screen. Is there a way around this manually or is it an issue Sony can only fix??

Original poster needs to learn how to post a 'Proper and Acceptable' bug report. I'm pretty sure help, which is available, would not be too forthcoming with his current posting style.
What this means, in the grand scheme of things, is that friendly users who would generally accept his findings, would not want to reply with any useful information. Nor should they. And these days, a brand new black PS3 costs several hundred dollars, an investment in something that is backed up by experienced technical support.
While I know that his PS3 did not in fact 'die', and he is merely exaggerating the condition his PS3 'might' have, in order to 'stimulate' conversation among others as to various theoretical conclusions about 'what to do' without actually having done... anything at all... to resolve the problem. Really, pawning this off onto smarter people isn't going to help him in the long run, and pushy attitudes when dealing with consumer level electronics has *never* been reccommended. You either support your platform of choice or you don't, this is not funny, not at all.
There are a lot of people here who don't want to have to read every day about other people's personal matters and every single emotional problem they are experiencing. Firmware is not going to create, or resolve any kind of emotional trauma. I only wish that I would see *less* complaining, and more happy people this holiday season. Merry Christmas.
So let's have something else to talk about. Let's boot up a good game, or movie and drink all that down with expensive beer and have some cake to eat too, because ultimately, real winners have real friends.

I think I'm having the same problem as everyone here. It sounds like it at least. So heres my details:
Its a full sized PS3
Age: about 2 - 3 years
I updateded system, unchecked the turn off my system after update box, and let it update.
I'm not sure if it finished installing the update. I think it freaked out somewhere between finishing downloading and installing the new update. Somewhere in there, the PS3 became unhappy.
By unhappy, I mean even though the green power light remained on it stopped sending any sort of signal to the TV, lost all connection to controllers, and refused to turn off via power button.
I switched AV cables, and tried HDMI, and still no TV signal or any change. So I turned off the system by unplugging it, after letting it sit (still on) for 30 minutes or so.
After this I did the fancy reset button trick. I held the power button upon start up. It beeped once, then again after 5 seconds and again upon shutdown 10 seconds later. It seemed like it was going to work. I turned it on again holding the power button, beeped once, then the double beep a few seconds later - by now it should have given signal to my TV.... nope. I even tried to continue. I plugged in a controller. It wouldn't connect either. I tried this once or twice more. nothing. Not quite sure where to go from here. I'm about to contact Sony.
Only one function seems to work. When I plug in my PS3 I can hit the power button to turn it on, and I can hold it to make the Beeps as if I am resetting it. But other than that. It seems to do nothing. If I put a disk in, it spins fast, as if it is reading it, but still does nothing. No screen, sound, wireless capabilities, or power off functions.
Hope sombody knows what the deal is.

Nothing. I managed to get it to turn off too though. So it turns on and off, but nothing else. I'm giving in and shipping it to sony. I talked to two places that do repair for PS3s, and they hadn't even heard of the problem. I figured if I'm going to give up my money, I want to have a functioning PS3 at the end of the day.
