I have the same problem. Sony is telling me that it is my PS3 and not their update that casued this and to send it in for repair......out of warranty...

Hold your power button then when safe mode comes up restore the file system. If that doesn't work. Restore your system. Don't get rid of that system. It is fixable. In fact sony should fix it for free because its they're fault. They put that update out and mine did the same. Its back up now. I did what i suggest you do. Your bud jacob kiser good luck brother. Well you know how companies are these days alwasy giving you a general statement with nothing specific or concrete and will do their best to shift the blame to something/someone else just so that they don't have to take care of it.

it sounds like YLOD (Yellow Light of Death). Do you se a yellow light right before it shuts off?

yea i updated today and now logon to psn is super slow n im gettn error mesages all over, friends list n online wont load, and my int. connection is great , wht is this crap, very dissapointing, idk wht happened, but sony just screwed up alot of ps3's on the network is wht it seems lk to me..

so after this dumb update my system take f4evr to log on to psn n frends dont show up only a few do n wen i click on profiles i get error messages n this ps3 is the cech 3001b model i just got it around july of 2012 n its always been taken care of in a well ventilated area, so now i cant play online n i get connection errors and i got one error code telling me maybe the connection of my hard drive is bad or fryed or malfunctioning possibly..... , IN MY NOT EVEN 1/2 YEAR OLD, 300 DOLLAR PS3. this is very angering knowing the amount of money invested is quite a bit, and if their update ruins my console i will never buy another. come on sony, step it up and help us all out...

2days ago it did its thing now just freezes only way I can get it to work at all is to factory restore that means all the stuff I had is gone. Now I have to pay 100 bucks or more to send it in to see if they can fix it when they broke it!!!!!!!

yeah im having problems with mine too as soon as i turn on my ps3 it freezes before anything can even happen so i have to go in an restore it which is annoying to do everytime i want to play a game..especially because i always have to sign into my account over and over again..its annoying and it the new super slim model so i thought it might be that but then i realized other people were having the same problem.

i also did a update to 4.31 system started to move slow. so i shut is down, when i restart the hard drive fail to boot up.  i have a second hard drive the same thing happen 4.31 update is crashing hard drive.
