you gotta love mandatory updates that cause peoples consoles to crash thank goodness the Sony protection plan came out last November. Having bought my 3rd ps3 in December 2010 but it being I think my 8 one when Sony brought their 2 warranty extension to Canada I had to get it. I already had to return it 3 times since this January 2012 now this being the 4th im sure getting $$$ worth. My kids are mad but atleast they got the 360 to keep the amused when the PS3 has it's bi-monthly repair. Luckly for me I like playing on PC's so anytime I have a problem or an issue I can repair it myself well not having to buy a new console. PC gaming is much more convient and cheaper in the long run even with a top of the line rig.
My 80 gb ps3 stopped reading my ps3 games as soon as I updated to 4.25. I actual bought at another used 60 gb ps3 that worked before I updated it and now it won't read my ps3 games either. It actually still reads my ps2 games but not any ps3 games. Can someone PLEASE help!!!!

I did the update 4.25 yesterday or so, now I cannot connect to the internet on my PS3.
Also ran the internet connection test from the menu bar and it connected up until Playstation Network.
But it was working fine beforehand, just last night in fact.
Bug or down to fix the system? (whats going on guys) o.o
i just got my PS3 back from sony 2 days ago. i had updated to version 4.25 only to have my system become unable to locate my HDD. called sony, luckily under warranty, sent it in, got it back. they told me i would get an email when they recieved my unit, another email when it was serviced AND WHY, then another when they shipped it. I GOT NOTHING. no reason as to why or how or what. not even a response!! WAIT i take that back i did get to start my 82 games COMPLETELY OVER as the unit i got back had nothing on the HDD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
what is going on is that sony did screw peoples systems up from the mandatory 4.25 update. And they know that there is no fixing the problem so they are making people ssend them in for 99 and will tell you the reason why it was messed up .well they are sending them back and not telling peopl what was wrong because they know thousands of otther people will come out and sue them or demand new units and that would kill sony. so now those greedy bleeps are collecting on their mistake by making us think it was our sytems and not the update. so we are proper f&&&ed
To anyone at Sony or otherwise who tries to say that it is NOT a 4.25 update issue that caused this problem I'd like to invite you to my house to see my 2 ps3's who stopped working immediately following the update. Coincidences do happen, but there is no way that both my ps3's plus the hundreds or thousands of other ps3's that are having these problems just coincidentally stopped working at the same time as the update.
So if your comment is that it's not an update problem and it's more likely a problem with "our" ps3s just save it. You're wrong.
I will say that I understand that it may be tough to pinpoint the exact problem with the update with the wide range or issues that customers are experiencing. If we were all having the same problem it would be easier to pinpoint and fix. However, for any Sony rep to not be aware of the problem at this point is inexcusable.
To Sony, I will not buy a 4th ps3. Although, I've already sent two of the 3 ps3's back for repair, so I guess you could say I refuse to buy a 6th ps3.
Three days after I got the 4.25 update, my PS3 started turning off by itself. It has never done this before, and I rarely even play it. Customer Support told me that the "updates can't cause that problem". What a load of crap. I want some answers before I decide to send it in. Does anyone have any suggestions? I have the original 60GB model.
