I fail to see what the big deal is, the feature was widely unused, and only now that it will be gone you have people up and complaining about it. No one cared before, why care now?
You have people who've had a PS3 since launch saying, "But I was planning to install linux soon." Yeah...if you haven't done it by now, I doubt you were going to ever.
I really can't believe there is this big of an uproar over it personally. Some are making a bigger deal out of it than backwards compatibility.
Just let it go. Enjoy your games, movies, music, friends.

Let me ask you something. let's say you buy a computer with an awesome graphics card, you aren't a pc gamer or editor, but you like having it if you ever wanted to besides, you paid for the whole package.
Now let's say they decide that the graphics card has a very slight risk of allowing a person into the os(which any real hacker will hack around this "fix" anyway and everyone knows it, probably even sony, which makes this seem less like a "security update" to me), so they decide to completely yank the card out and give you crappy integrated, with no compensation.
Well, it's their right isn't it?/sarcasm.

Why don't you go ahead and get me one then? They're not that much. Besides, if you think it's perfectly acceptable for something that was previously a working solution until it got taken away to be an excuse to spend more money then you have to have some spare change laying around.

Why don't they get rid of the theme feature then? or the blue ray feature? or the ability to upload cds? or ect... ect... ect... do you see where I'm going with this? It all reminds me of nazi germany nobody cared until it effected them so whatever I just use my computer to have fun and my PS3 is just a big paper weight sitting on my entertainment center that I will occationally use to play some highend graphics game that has a paper thin plot and makes you dumber after your done playing it. No sony I will not update my system so get over it you guys really need to get your heads checked if you think that taking more and more features away is going to make people want to buy your system. Unless of course you want to change your motto to "It really did everything!"

should watch what you say on the sony fourms man I said the "G" word once on the fourm in a really long post to sony and was almost banned. They like to abuse their power like that if you couldn't already tell.
