I'm starting this thread primarily to bring attention to the fact that almost none of the major UI issues introduced in 3.0 were addressed in this update. Here's a short list of things that should have changed but clearly the time that R&D spent writing 3.10 was spent more on Facebook than listening to what the users had to say:
1. Text fading - It takes all of 1-2 seconds for names of everything but the highlighted item to fade out. How do you want me to browse through my music collection on my XMB? Should I have to spend additional energy to constantly keep pressing up and down only to keep the text fade from kicking in? I'm really surprised that this wasn't an obvious change to make...
2. The ticker - Look, I understand that you (Sony) want to bring more attention to your PS Store, but forcing a ticker on my main XMB without giving me the option to turn it off is really starting to become a nuisance. You allowed us to turn the old information bar off but not this one? Why?
3. Additional PS Store links - Again, see the above point. You really should understand that the increased focus on the store is being a bit invasive and it's unwelcome. I don't think I had problems for the past 2 or 3 years in finding the PS store let alone spending a good chunk of change on it. Would it really hurt to spend a little time and program in "options" to turn these off?
4. The sparkles theme - Yes I'm fully aware that you can turn it off however, when you boot up your PS3, it doesn't instantaneously go into your account of choice. There's a little time during the bootup where the sparkles are visible before my account loads and my settings take effect. Did you really think that your core demographic of 18-34 year old males want sparkles on their then $600 investment? Honestly I'm a bit confused about who is making these certifiably out-of-touch with customer base choices.
Look, I love the PS3 and think that it's a great gaming platform as well as a media center. What I'm merely pointing out is, you had a good setup in 2.80 and it wouldn't really be all that troublesome to roll back some features. Trust me when I say the user base won't point you out for doubling back on a decision, they will instead appreciate that you listen to your customers' concerns and say thank you. I hope that some day these concerns are taken seriously because I'm really starting to lose hope that anyone who manages the system software really cares.

The ticker only pisses me off if its displaying something like Hanah Montana bundle, but would nice to turn it off.
The other big problem is from an aesthetic design, I don't like having THREE PS STORE ICONS. At least take off one and leave 2 at the most.
I'm not bothered as much by the font change in HD.

Referring to the "get over it" comments, try to have something more constructive to say. Clearly I'm voicing my concerns and there are those who agree. I feel like these are major issues because I dropped a considerable amount of change on buying a launch console, despite long term projections saying that this system didn't have much going for it given its high entry price. What I did then was give the PS3 my vote of confidence. It appeared to be the right decision ultimately.
The point is, I find these items to be issues so please spare the casual dismissive comments.
its not that its a issue. its the fact that its your issueto yourself.

For those of you who became a mad man from seeing the Ticker while on the XMB GUI, I Googled " remove my Playstation 3 Ticker" then pressed the button 'I'm feeling lucky'.
This is the page that appeared (Link)
'thesunofugly' on Gamespot writes: "Change the date setting to a year ahead then restart your PS3 and it will dissapear."

Thank You Sony for Not Addressing Firmware 3.0 Complaints With 3.10
Sony: "You're welcome We enjoy listening to our customers and hope to bring another 5 playstation store icons in the upcoming months, to satisfy the *supposed* demand!"
I think my sig says it all, really
